Wembrook Primary School were again fortunate enough to be invited to the Aegon Classic Ladies Tennis Tournament on Wednesday 11th June 2014!  The Tournament took place on the grass courts at Edgbaston Priory Tennis Club in Birmingham. 

This tournament is used by the WTA touring professional players as a warm up for Wimbledon so the quality of the tennis is world class! 

Firstly, we were treated to a match between Sloane Stevens (USA) and Francesca Schiavone (ITL) on centre court before settling into our lunch while overlooking other matches.  In the afternoon, we received a free Coaching Session from qualified coaches before racing back to watch another centre court smash-up between Virginie Razzano (FRA) and Klara Koukalova (CZE).  How do they hit the ball so hard?

A lovely day out for all those invited.  The children’s behaviour throughout the day was a credit to their parents and Wembrook!  It’s a shame we couldn’t have taken more children along!
